Vocal music
Calling all voices! The Urban Choral Arts Society is a nonprofit dedicated to improving the achievement and esteem of Baltimore youth through the arts. UCAS, in partnership with the Eubie Blake Cultural Center, allows students to participate in regular rehearsals and performances with adult professional musicians. Students also participate in weekly arts workshops, designed to build discipline, self esteem, and opportunities for achievement. With a special emphasis on music within the African American diaspora, UCAS also seeks to preserve and highlight the artistic contributions of African Americans to American music.
Professional musicians and educators of color work together in partnership with the Eubie Blake Cultural Center to teach, mentor, and encourage under-served Baltimore youth who have faced the challenges of neglect and a lack of community resources for decades.
